The Goa'uld are parasites from the planet P3X-888, integrated within a host, most of the time human. The resulting creatures are a powerful race bent on galactic conquest and domination, largely without pity, compassion or remorse.

I always liked how these weren't overly farfetched. Parasites controlling hosts is a very real phenomenon, and these guys just take it to the next level :)

Yeah. For whatever reason parasites in movies and shows are huge. I recently rewatched The Matrix and the bug that goes into Neo is freaking huge. Then again, it can be explained away by being in the matrix I guess :)
