Good categorization and organization is part of what keeps Alpha Coders a high quality community. If you submit content to Alpha Coders, it should be a goal of yours to become a trusted user.

To become a trusted user, you will need to submit content that moderators don't need to change. This means:

  • Submitting content to the correct site. Multiple things determine which site your content is appropriate for.
  • If a site mentions its for showcase quality content, the quality of the image is important. JPG artifacts, blurriness, etc makes content not showcase quality.
  • Almost all of Alpha Coders is Family Friendly
  • Image Abyss is the exception, allowing more artistic expression. More info here.
  • Using either no categorization ( Image Abyss ) or having good categorization ( All other sites )

As a community we work together. Whether you are a moderator, a content submitter, or someone that comes to Alpha Coders for the content - we all work together. If you are having trouble getting trusted, please reach out to the moderator that's changing things about your submissions, and they can clarify anything that you are unclear about.

We want to uphold our standards, and interact positively with the general members of the community.

Most moderator changes to content will automatically feel negative to the user. For this reason, it's extremely important that when we communicate with users, we do so in a positive and constructive manner.

Guidelines For Moderating Content Submissions
  • It is a goal to move untrusted users towards being trusted. For this reason, we want to communicate directly with the user on occasion.
  • As a general guideline, every 5th time you moderate content from someone, and they get some things wrong, PM them about it, offering further explanations and help if they don't understand something. Remember to be positive, constructive, and helpful about it.

This is a guideline, not a hard and fast rule. The point is to communicate with the users. Every 5th time means every 5th time you are in a moderating session, and encounter issues with a user that you have seen issues with before. It's fine if multiple moderators are communicating with a user - so focus on what you have seen from that user, not what other moderators might have encountered.

If you are communicating with someone and they are not communicating back, after several times, PM ajak60, let him know the details, and we can temporarily lock them out from submitting.

The goal is to help users, let them know we are here, but to not waste our time with those that have no interest in trying

Guidelines For Featuring Wallpapers
  • For a wallpaper to be featured, it needs to be of an exceptional quality. This means that it needs to be one of the best examples in its subcategory.
  • Our featured wallpapers show up on our home page, and are used to promote the sites on social media. For this reason, featured wallpapers need to not contain any even remotely provocative or gorey content.

Recently I saw that Prime Video in the U.S. had Dororo. I had watched the first episode  when it first came out, thought it was decent, and left it at that. I've also been seeing that the number of wallpapers for it has been growing pretty fast lately; these things combined made me decide to try more episodes.

I enjoy the darkness of Dororo. I won't post spoilers here - but I will say the following. Things don't always turn out alright. Some situations are awful, and end awful, and I like that Dororo can tell stories like that.

It's definitely an anime that I would recommend.

Hey everyone,

I recently discovered there was a bug with recommendation system #2 that was making it perform poorly for a set of users. Basically any user with an ID of > 142000. If you've previously tried recommendation system #2, and have a user id > 142000, I would definitely recommend (hehe) giving it another shot.

DO,

Our contests are a way to try and make things a little more fun smiley

Almost all of our contests are raffles, where we pick a random winner from a pool.

For the normal monthly raffle, you just spend ACP for tickets. For our special raffles, meeting a critera will put you in the drawing for that tier.

About winning a contest: https://communities.alphacoders.com/topics/view/6786

If you have any other questions just let me know smiley

The moving of 1024x768 wallpapers and smaller has completed.

It's our plan to continue moving outdated content, but will be pausing things for now. The next size threshold the admin team has in mind is 1280x800 and smaller.

Posted In: Using Content FAQ

Wondering if you can use a specific piece of content on Alpha Coders for a specific purpose? This post should answer that question!

By default content on Alpha Coders is only usable for your private, personal use. If you want to use a piece of content in any public setting, or commercially, you will need to make sure that it's OK. Some guidelines are below:

Situation 1: The content you want to use has no author.

In order to know if you can use this content, you will need to try and find an author yourself. There is no author specified on Alpha Coders, and Alpha Coders has no copyright claim on the image. The two tools that are useful in this regard are:

If you are unable to find the author, you cannot know whether you can use the image or not, and therefore cannot use the image.

Situation 2: The content you want to use has an author, but that author is not who submitted the content.

This means that the author does not have a profile on Alpha Coders, but content shared by someone was attributed to them. You can click on the author name, and we might have links to other official profiles that artist has that aren't on Alpha Coders.

Situation 3: The content was submitted by its author

You can view their profile on Alpha Coders, and PM them on Alpha Coders with your usage questions

We also have CC0 content at https://wall.alphacoders.com/by_license.php?filter=4 which you can use freely

Posted In: Wargroove is a hit!

A few days ago I picked up Wargroove, and it's been a blast so far. The game is basically built around Advance Wars nostalgia, and then runs with it. The commanders and different factions are suberb.

  • Pixel Art is great
  • Love supporting indie devs
  • $20 base price

Another modern quality of life improvement is that you can easily change the difficulty on campaign missions. For younger players, or people not great at turn based strategy games, this is a beautiful feature.

I definitely recommend checking it out laugh

Hey everyone!

A bit ago I posted about moving small wallpapers off Wallpaper Abyss and onto Image Abyss. You can see the reasoning here.

Anyways, this process has officially started! If you're a bit curious about how we are doing it - we are going nice and slow. There are a bit more than 2,000 wallpapers 1024x768 and smaller - and those will be converted to Image Abyss over the next month and a half.
